Brooklyn Museum

Inspired by the Brooklyn Museum’s desire and commitment to further engage the larger Brooklyn community, Patterson proposed an interactive installation for the lobby of the museum featuring multi-colored textiles suspended from the lobby's glass ceiling. Over the course of a month, community members would come together to build the piece alongside the artist, including writing personal messages on the ribbons themselves.

The installation was inspired by two of Patterson’s other projects, Graced With Light and Pathless Woods. Community involvement also played a significant part in the creation of those two pieces.
