2020 - FINALIST

Patterson’s vision for the Whittier Aquatic Center hanging sculpture was to create a suspended installation composed of schools of fish, aquatic creatures and a few swimmers, linked together and shaped into a whole that feels as though it is moving through the space like a current through water. The piece, which incorporates brass and aluminum, begins outside the entrance, serving as a welcoming and engaging first encounter for visitors. It extends into the lobby, accompanying guests as they arrive for their visit, and provides a visually stimulating environment for the staff.
