Elements of Nature

Elements of Nature is a collaborative exhibition of work by photographer, Penny Ashford, and painter, Anne Patterson in celebration of nature and the amazing force of life that it represents. Each artist has a strong vernacular and individual approach to her work and together they had the opportunity to influence each other’s work for this exhibition. Looking, seeing and understanding nature is a constant for both artists. Creating the work that reflects the moment or the mood is their great gift. In Patterson’s abstract watercolor paintings, we see her ability to reach into the water, the tree or rocks to find inspiration. The pattern and color of the paintings create a strong emphasis on the senses. Viewing the watercolors transforms itself into feeling which reveals Patterson’s intuitive understanding of nature. 

All works in the series are watercolor and measure 14 x 20 inches.
