The Paths We Take

From Anne: “For years I have been drawn to the beauty of the reeds that I see in and around the coastal northeast: phragmites. Though they are an invasive species, I find them to be so striking, symphonic in clusters and simply regal on their own. Again I’m drawn to the repeated form that actually varies quite a bit from reed to reed.

So, not too long ago I headed over to Kingston, NY to build stand-alone stainless steel sculpture inspired by the reeds. The incredible folks at Workshop Art Fabrication helped me bring my vision to life.

By now I've been able to see how these stoic shapes play against their environment in all seasons. My dream is to create a long, running fence of the reeds through a field.”
